Yannick is involved in several Haitian community organizations and emphasizes that the services offered by her BCSE go far beyond simple academic support. In fact, these organizations do everything they can to help families in the community overcome the challenges of life in Canadian society, and more specifically, in Quebec. This participant is particularly concerned about the low numbers Black youth pursuing higher education. She believes that young people need to become aware of the systemic nature of the problems they face so that the community can begin to address them collectively. She advocates for more innovative approaches in the educational work of the BCSEs, particularly through projects that foster the development of social awareness, as well as the strengthening of self-confidence and a sense of belonging.
